PRODUCT & BRANDING DESIGN
Product Development, Prototyping, Fabrication, Branding, and Packaging
An elegant ceramic piece designed to offer the host inside us a unique way of serving beverages. Vessé began as a study of product semantics and was later developed into a branded product line.
The vessel incorporates shaping elements in its form to indicate function, such as a recess in the body intended for gripping. Utilizing studies behind product semantics, prototyping the vessel and user testing helped in the understanding of how users actually approach the product and interact with it. These features give the vessel a unique look and distinction from similar products.
Its original shape was carved in foam and modeling clay with surface treatments for smoothing. After finalizing the shape, a three-part mold was created for producing multiple quantities of the product. Vessé is then slip-casted with porcelain and first kiln-fired when bone dry, and again after treated with a food-safe glaze.
